For 1,062 years beginning in the 11th century B.C., Xi'an was the capital
of 13 dynasties including the Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Eastern Han, Sui,
and Tang. The continuous dynastic occupation kept the city beautiful and magnificent.
More than two hundred and seventy palaces and temples were built during its heyday,
such as the "Three Han Palaces" in the Han dynasty, namely Changle,
Weiyang, Jianzhang Palaces, and numerous other palaces and watch towers. The
most well known among these is the Tomb of Emperor Qin Shihuang, with the Terra-cotta
Warriors and Horses. Xi'an is also the starting point of the ancient Silk Road
This
morning upon your arrival in Xi'an, you will be met by a local guide. We'll
will enjoy a brief city tour including the Ancient City Walls, Big Wild Goose
Pagoda, and the Bell Tower before being transferred to our hotel, the Hyatt Regency
(or similar). In the evening, OSSN members are treated to a special dumpling
dinner and cultural show recreating the costumes, music and dance of the Tang
Dynasty. This show is a "must see" for any traveler in Xi'an.
After breakfast at our hotel, we depart for the most well known Shaan’xi
Archaeological Museum, the home to more than 6,000 life-size terra-cotta warriors
and horses excavated from the tomb of the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty. Lunch
will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, we visit the Shaan’xi
Provincial Museum, renowned for its collection of antiquities. You will then
be transferred back to your hotel,after you are also treated to dinner in a local
restaurant. Stay at leisure for the evening or explore Xi'an on your own!

This morning, we will transfer to airport for your flight to Shanghai- “Paris
of the Orient”. Upon arrival, we will be met by our professional guide
and enjoy some afternoon touring along with lunch to be included during our tour.
Our sightseeing will feature the bustling shopping street Nanjing Road, and The
Bund, famous promenade along the Huangpu River. After lunch, we will check into
Shanghai Holiday Inn Downtown Hotel**** (or similar).
| After breakfast this morning, we will be visiting the Shanghai Museum, one
of the best museums in the country. We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant
and then visit Yu Garden and the neighboring Old Shanghai bazaar! This evening
you are free to enjoy Shanghai on your own! |

Today we bid farewell to China! We have witnessed and shared their enthusiasm
for the upcoming Olympics while we shared their culture. We promise to return
with our new found knowledge and excitement for this wonderful destination! With
thanks to our hosts, China Travel Service, China National Tourism Office and
Beijing Tourist Office, we transfer to Shanghai airport for our flight back to
the USA.
