5/9/2006
- US Airways will begin three daily nonstops between Charlotte, N.C., and New York/Kennedy. The announcement means an escalation of the competition between the carrier and its rival JetBlue, since JetBlue just said a month ago it plans to fly the same route soon.
Delta Air Lines will begin twice-a-day flights between Atlanta and Killeen-Fort Hood in Texas on Sept. 7. Also, Delta will start service between New York/Kennedy and Budapest this week, as well as Atlanta-Nice.
AirTran will offer nonstop flights from Chicago/Midway to two new cities on its route map -- Charlotte, N.C., and Dallas-Fort Worth -- and add an extra daily flight to Minneapolis/St. Paul.
Singapore Airlines will start flights three times a week between Singapore and both Barcelona and Milan on July 19.
Click Mexicana, a low-fare airline owned by Mexicana, will begin offering U.S. flights for the first time this year. The carrier will launch Cancun-Miami service three times a day on June 1, pending approval from U.S. regulators.
