U.S. State Dept. Begins Issuing Passport Cards 8/28/2008 - The U.S. State Department has begun producing and issuing the new U.S. Passport Card for travelers. The card may be used in lieu of a passport for re-entry into the country at land border crossings and at sea ports when arriving from Bermuda, Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico.
