TRAVEL ALTERNATIVES

Fear
of flying is at an all-time high. In fact, there's more going on than just fear:
Lots of people are simply unwilling to go through the hassles that await around
every corner. Security, rude or indifferent airline staff, lack of space, uncomfortable
seats
Need I go on?
So, what do you offer the prospect who doesn't want to fly?
I recently spoke at the American Bus Association's annual convention. If you
haven't educated yourself about this aspect of the travel industry, it's time
to check it out. Motorcoach travel is comfortable, safe, leisurely
and
they actually appreciate their passengers' business!
You can get involved in motorcoach travel several ways; 1.) You can sell tour
operators' prepackaged products, 2.) You can work with tour directors who regularly
put trips together for their own affinity groups, or 3.) You can arrange your
own motorcoach tours and sell them to the general public.
The first option is just like selling any other prepackaged product. The second
involves finding the people who regularly put groups together, and showing them
that you can add value with your service. That's important. If you don't add value,
they have no reason to work with you. The third option puts all of the risk squarely
on your shoulders. As is the case with many products, the one that carries the
greatest risk also carries the greatest profit potential.
Should you get involved I motorcoach travel? If you're sick of getting resistance
to air travel, and if you're sick of the complaints that come after, there's a
whole other world out there that you can sell confidently and profitably. I recommend
you at least give it a look.
