This month, OSSN will proudly join the ranks of major travel industry associations around the world offering a brand-new Internet domain category to our members. It will be recognized worldwide as .travel ( dot travel)!

ICANN -- the global organization that controls Internet names and operations -- approved this new suffix (just like .com or .org) recently, and OSSN now belongs to a nonprofit group called the Travel Partnership Corporation that will administer .travel names. I've personally completed several rounds of testing so that OSSN can serve as a source for registering new .travel Web site names.

What does this mean for your travel business?

First, you now have the chance to lock up new Web site names for your travel business. If you missed the opportunity to secure Web URLs that you really wanted for your home-based business -- e.g., "ABCTownshipTravel.com" or "Reallycheapdiscountcruises.com" -- now's your chance to apply for those domain names with the .travel suffix.
