Second, you should register the .travel names for your existing
Web sites right away, before a savvy competitor grabs them.
If you're growing your travel business and establishing your identity
with a given .com or .org or .net name, why allow other agents competing
for your clients to beat you to the finish line by appropriating
your .travel Web name before you do?
What you must know upfront is this: The registration process for .travel names takes more steps than .com/.org/.net names. For example, you must belong to a reputable, pre-approved travel association like OSSN before you can buy a .travel name. They're not available to the general public. And, you must demonstrate that you have plans to use the .travel name in your business right away. When you apply, you must submit the Web address for a site that's ready to use the .travel name, or stationery that shows the .travel name ready to go, or other proof that you're not simply hoarding .travel names to re-sell at a later date.
Will .travel names catch on like .com domains? That's a question that the market will decide. My best advice is that it's better to be safe now by registering your Web names with the new .travel suffix, than sorry later because you missed this opportunity!
Watch your OSSN email this month for more details about our .travel registration process.
