Going Solo Vs. A Host Agency

The evolution of the independent retailers is one of the most interesting stories of the travel industry. Along the way, they have been a major contributor to the growth of the industry -- and for decades they never received supplier recognition. As a consultant to both the agencies and the suppliers, I have been one of the few individuals to see the different perceptions of the independents over the years.

Every so often, there is a positive growth change in our industry -- and, almost without exception, it has been the independents that were the driving force behind them. Perhaps, as you work alone, you fail to realize that combined you have always been one of the primary forces in travel. If you work solo or are affiliated with a host agency, you have made that decision based on a variety of reasons.
