Can This Trip Be Saved?- Without
the Proper ID, You May Miss the Boat
Question:
I have clients who celebrated their parents' 30th wedding anniversary
recently by giving them a one-week cruise to Mexico. Needless to
say, the happy couple was very excited about this trip! When they
arrived at the pier to board the ship, however, the cruise line
refused to let my clients' parents get on the ship. The problem?
Instead of applying for passports, the parents brought along their
driver's licenses and birth certificates -- and the father's
license had expired about a week before the cruise. Obviously,
they could do nothing on the spot to renew the license, so the ship
sailed without them. To make matters worse, the cruise line now
refuses to refund any portion of my clients' money. Do my clients
have any recourse?
