President's Message
When OSSN began in 1990, our offices boasted the latest cutting-edge technology: Electric typewriters, a couple of computers that used 5 1/4" floppy disks, and one of those "newfangled" facsimile machines!

The Truth About .Travel
By Gary M. Fee, OSSN President

Just think how far we've come in 15 years. We've replaced those typewriters with laptop computers that connect wireless to the global Internet network that links billions of computers in one big conversation. Instead of those early PCs (remember those big disks that honestly were floppy?), we now use "thumb drives" that store several CDs worth of information on a little device that hangs on our keychains. And, many of us now send and receive faxes via computer -- and our fax phones have turned into multifunction machines that scan, copy, print, and do everything but brew our morning coffee.

We're seeing the same revolution now -- spanning the next 15 months, not years -- in Web domain names.

OSSN proudly joined 17 other worldwide travel associations in developing the brand-new .travel Web domain. The .travel initiative gives travel agents, travel suppliers, and others in our business an exclusive space on the Internet to conduct our business. (Just think about how many other professions and industries out there -- from doctors and lawyers to real estate brokers and car dealers -- don't have their own domain!)
