SMALL YET POWERFUL

One of the most overlooked and powerful advertising tools a home-based agent can have is a small, inexpensive rectangle piece of paper -- the business card. It is important to remember that, when you hand someone your business card, you are making your first impression. That's why you want your card to be attention-getting, pleasing, informative, and memorable -- so people will look at it, comment on it, pass it around, and keep it handy for future reference.

NO MORE PALM TREES!

During my various marketing seminars, I collect business cards and give away a prize for the most creative design. I am always astonished at how many of the cards look so much alike, and it has often been difficult to find cards that stand out. I would say that 80 percent or more of the cards I have collected include a palm tree or a cruise ship in the design. This is certainly a safe and common choice, but it does nothing to make you stand out.
