Running
a home-based business means that, more than likely, you will enter
into a number of types of contracts or agreements, from verbal to
contractual. Both can create legal and financial problems for you,
unless you understand all of the ramifications and responsibilities.
When securing group space, it is common to have
a formal agreement between the hotel and the client. In most
cases, since you will be representing your clients, you [your agency]
will be the responsible party on the contract. It is important to
realize that these are legal and binding agreements, so it is imperative
that you understand each and every part of the contract before signing.
In addition, if you are working through a host agency, it is more
than likely that you will not have the authority to sign a contract
on its behalf.
