Destination: Santa Fe

Imagine a painting of a horse.
It is gangly, dark blue and structurally elongated
without muscle tone to almost the point of emaciation, and an Indian
is slumped on its back. It is night and the stars are full against
a very black sky. Far away, in the background is the same horse.
I saw this painting for the first time in a gallery
in Santa Fe, New Mexico and fell in love with it. I will carry the
image with me everywhere I go. I couldn't afford to buy it the first
time I was there. The second time I was there, I couldn't afford
it because the price had tripled.
