Selling Cruises: Sailing the South Pacific
by John Hawks

For your clients who want to truly escape their workday lives for a totally relaxing vacation, it's tough to beat a one- or two-week voyage in Tahiti and French Polynesia.

In fact, few destinations underscore the tremendous value of cruising than this region. First, South Pacific cruises allow your clients to visit several Tahitian islands in one trip (whereas transferring between islands without the cruise ship's help could prove difficult and expensive). Also, the onboard lodging, meals, and services on the ship help make this destination more affordable for the average traveler. (Your clients' fares will prove a bargain compared to $600 to $1,000 a night for over-the-water bungalows!) You won't find crowds in the ports similar to stops in Mexico or the Caribbean. And, French Polynesia is surprisingly close to the U.S. mainland (an eight-hour flight from the West Coast, in the same time zone as Hawaii).
