OSSN Cruise Fams Equal Hands-On Training

Yes, there are several seminar at sea classes our attendees have to attend while on board the cruise. But, their learning experience also goes beyond the classes. Product and destination knowledge is very important. Our OSSN Cruise Fam attendees get to experience the cruise line firsthand, as well as the destinations they will visit during their itinerary. It’s this personal knowledge that the attendees will gain in order to help close that sale with their cruise clients once they return to their office.
Of course, the seminar at sea classes are full of information as well. In my classroom I offer more information on the cruise line that is hosting our OSSN Cruise Fam. I discuss the different classes of ships, onboard activities, accommodations, amenities, dining, and so forth. Then, I get into more travel industry topics such as travel insurance, groups, technology, sales, and marketing. If time allows, we also have great networking sessions where the attendees can continue discussing these same topics as well as current trends in the travel industry.
It’s no wonder that our OSSN Cruise Fam attendees become better sellers of travel. But don’t take my word for it. Check out what our recent attendees have to say about how their experience on board an OSSN Cruise Fam has helped them:
“As I can finally consider myself a seasoned travel advisor after about seven years in the business, I will say that I truly have enjoyed every OSSN function that I have attended. I value the time spent with other agents as we network, sharing what works for our business and even what doesn't! OSSN travel agents are, in general, a very caring bunch - eager to help each other in any way to be more successful as sellers of travel. On my recent trip with OSSN to Mexico on “Vision of the Seas,” Jeff (Grieder) was exceptional as the facilitator of a rather large group, is VERY easy to bond with, and I sure hope that the fast friendship we developed will stand the test of time.”
Bobbie Murphy, MCC (Bobbie’s Travel, Ltd., Cincinnati, OH)
“I have now attended three such trips, and they have been an eye-opener. First, I thought I understood all of the benefits of being an OSSN member but each time I hear the speech, there are more and more benefits that I am not aware of or have forgotten. Second, the networking opportunity is like no other. People are so willing to share their stories, their experiences, their ideas and what has worked well and what has not. The group session have allowed me to meet and make new friends that otherwise would not have happened. Third, the opportunity to actually experience what the ship has to offer is immeasurable. There is nothing like being there, experiencing it, embellishing it and tasting it - all of it. A Fam is the only way to go - especially with OSSN!”
Sheree Scott (Gold Key Travel, Woodbridge, Va.)
”I attended my first OSSN Fam trip and it was outstanding. I did not realize how much OSSN had to offer until I attended this trip. I am so happy that I joined OSSN last month. This Fam was so educational and I learned so much about the organization and what it has to offer. I enjoyed the networking and meeting so many wonderful people. I know that we will continue to keep in touch and support each other. I always wanted to go on Fam trips, but I was always so busy working and now I cannot wait to attend the next OSSN Fam trip. It is the only way to learn about the ship and there is nothing like experiencing this unless you are there.”
Tina Beckles (The Cruise Authority, Marietta, Ga.)
