The result is the newly christened “Riviera Nayarit” (www.rivieranayarit.com) – offering everything from upscale full-service resorts to tiny boutique inns, fishing villages and historic area to pristine golf courses and unspoiled beaches, all within a few hours’ flying time of most U.S. gateways.
Major resort developers have announced big plans to expand tourism facilities in this region, with almost two dozen new lodging projects underway. Already, it’s grown famous for draws such as Banderas Bay, an excellent destination for your clients who enjoy diving, snorkeling, and deep-sea fishing. The Riviera Nayarit also boasts several world-class golf courses and resorts.
On the other hand, your clients who simply want a getaway to “get lost” can explore more than 100 miles of white sand beaches, trek through bird sanctuaries in Islas Marietas and La Tovara or swim with the seals at Las Caletas. They can also decompress with strolls through some of Mexico’s most authentic fishing villages like Bucerias and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
The primary gateway for this region is Puerto Vallarta, as its airport sits about 15 minutes from Nuevo Vallarta and 45 minutes from Punta Mita. Almost a dozen carriers offer flights from U.S. gateways, from Alaska, American, Continental, and Delta to United and US Airways.
However, many agents selling the Riviera Nayarit recommend the new packages
offered by many leading OSSN supplier members:
Apple Vacations is promoting
all-inclusive family stays at the Allegro Nuevo Vallarta from $299 ppdo (land
only) from Aug. 1 to Dec. 15, as well as four-night trips to the Marival Resort & Suites
from $309 ppdo (www.myappleonline.com).
Funjet Vacations features four-night packages at various hotels in the region through Dec. 12 at special rates (www.funjet.com).
GOGO Worldwide Vacations offers a five-night package for honeymooners through Dec. 23 (www.gogowwv.com).
