Many home-based agents want to expand their group travel bookings for one simple reason: You’ll earn more money!
If you sell a $1,000 cruise to a husband and wife, for example, and the cruise line pays you a 10 percent commission (to keep the math simple), you should earn $200 on that sale. What happens if you persuade that couple to turn the cruise into a family reunion, on the other hand? With a little extra effort, you might sell 10 cabins with two passengers each, or 20 travelers paying $1,000 apiece. That means $2,000 in commissions on that trip!
