Selling Travel 101: Incentive Travel

More home-based travel agents have begun tapping into their local and regional business networks to offer an increasingly popular type of travel product: incentive travel for managers, salespeople, employees, and even customers!

Travel as a business reward carries a much higher (and longer lasting) perceived value than cold, hard cash. Long after workers have forgotten what they spent their cash bonuses on, they will remember every detail of the great trip supplied by their company. A U.K. study found that travel is remembered longer than cash or merchandise gifts to employees. USA Today discovered in its survey that 93 percent of employees valued travel over any other type of incentive. And, best of all, the Incentive Travel Fact Book says that businesses using vacation travel incentives in their promotions have reported at least 30 percent sales increases on an average basis!
