An
interesting thing happened at my dentist’s office recently. I went in with
a minor complaint that one tooth had some sensitivity to cold and came out with
a diagnosis that included an estimated bill of $6500.00! I felt relieved for
a brief second because I had just renewed my so called “Premium Dental
Coverage Policy”. The dentist’s receptionist made a quick call to
my insurance company and soon found out that the good news was that the policy
did cover major dental work but the bad news was that there was $1000.00 maximum
payment per year. This meant that I was faced with $5500.00 of unplanned new
expenses.
