That’s why the organizers of the Home Based Agent Show last month in Charlotte, N.C., invested so much time and effort into launching the first-ever Technology Forum designed specifically for home-based travel sellers!

In the photos accompanying this article, you’ll see row after row of dedicated home-based agents learning tips and techniques about the latest software programs and Web sites that can help them find more prospects and close more sales.

On Thursday, April 12, these Technology Forum participants filled an entire ballroom section inside the Charlotte Convention Center! Throughout the day, it was standing room only as different speakers explained how to use different Web tools and programs to grow home-based travel businesses.

This Technology Forum required enormous resources to organize and operate. If you’ve ever struggled with slow Internet connections or crashes with your own computer at home, imagine what it was like trying to hook up and manage more than 100 different computers spread throughout this forum!

Nearly 400 agents took part in this first forum, and we give a big “Thanks!” to the generous suppliers who helped make it possible: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Hewlett-Packard, and Passport Online, among others.

After this session, we polled many of the agents who took part in this first forum. And, we learned a lot ourselves about improving the Technology Forum for the next conference: the fall Home Based Travel Agent Show and Conference set for Oct. 29-31 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J.!

If you missed Charlotte, mark your calendars now for the Atlantic City conference! Along with a bigger and improved Technology Forum, we’ll soon be announcing another show theme that represents an exploding source of new business for many OSSN members. Also, we’ll have even more opportunities for you to hear directly from other successful home-based agents – not just the leading suppliers in our industry.
