Want to see what you missed? Click on these links below to view three slideshows capturing the fun, excitement, and learning that came with OSSN's 2007 International Conference in Greece:
The Oct. 16-26 event included a pre-conference stay on the island of Mykonos, followed by a cruise through the Greek isles and a five-day stay in Athens.
Highlights
of this trip were many: an excursion to the ruins of Delos (the spiritual center
of the Cyclades); several days of sailing through the magnificent Aegean Sea,
with stops in Rhodes, Kusadasi, and Patmos; and visits to the breathtaking sights
in Athens (from the Acropolis to the Monastiraki [flea market])!
Along with the fun, the OSSN delegates took part in educational seminars to learn the basics of selling Greece to their clients.
One treat for these agents was a special-invitation luncheon set at the prestigious Yacht Club of Athens hosted by Monarch Classic Cruises. OSSN was welcomed by the raising of a special OSSN flag and logo banner on the flagpole outside the club -- a gesture marking the 10th anniversary of the association's first visit in 1997!
The 2007 conference ended in high style with a gala costume dinner,
in which agents came tothe event dressed as their favorite Greek gods and goddesses.
This dinner was hosted by the Greek National Tourist Organization. Jim and Mona
Moon won the Best Overall honors given that evening. Yolanda Tatum was named
Best Female, and Doug Vickery was named Best Male. Darlene Newton (the goddess of sweet tarts!) received Most Original honors, while Mike Cane and Myrtis Rimassa won the Wackiest award.
"Everyone had such a great time," said Patricia Bannister, the director of the OSSN Memphis/N. Miss./E. Ark. Chapter who assisted Penney Rudicil (OSSN's Eastern Regional Manager, who served as the official group escort throughout Greece). "We saw sights that most of us had never seen before -- ancient sites from the Bible and from Greek mythology."
OSSN extends a huge thanks to the sponsors who helped make this conference possible: the Greek National Tourist Office, Homeric Tours, Divani Hotels, Louis Hellenic Cruises, and Monarch Classic Cruises. Also, thanks go to Melody Fee, Patricia Bannister, and Penney Rudicil for the photos and slideshows!
