Success: From Imagination to Reality

I still find it hard to believe that I actually used visualization exercises to find the house I currently live in. This is a technique that did not come easy to me, and it was something I had to learn through instructional goal setting sessions.

During my initial session, I had expressed a desire to move. When the trainer asked me to give him more details about my new house, I was vague. At that particular point, all I thought I knew was that I wanted to downsize to a condominium or townhouse. He then made me painstakingly describe exactly what my new house would look like by asking me a long series of questions, such as what color are the walls, how many stories, did it have fireplace, what each room looked like, and even the views. I followed the instructions to write down all of the attributes I described and then look at the list several times a day.
