For many clients, the side trips they take when their cruise ship makes a port stop can generate as many memories as the time spent aboard the ship. Cruising offers travelers a handy way to see several destinations in a single trip, without incurring the extra expenses of transferring between these spots on land.

However, shore excursions can also generate many headaches for agents! The general excursions offered by leading cruise lines sometimes disappoint today’s travelers because they’re “cookie cutter” trips - taking crowds of people from the ship to the same tired tourist traps in each port. Another huge challenge for agents is that, while some cruise lines now pay commission on shore excursions, other leading cruise lines do not – which means you won’t earn anything extra for dealing with these bookings. And, if you try assembling your own customized shore excursions for your clients from scratch, you’ll spend a lot of hours to build trips that don’t carry big margins.
