Roatan, Honduras
by Patricia Bannister
I went on a FAM cruise offered by OSSN as a facilitator, and one of our stops was Roatan, Honduras. Well, the cruise also went to Belize, so I thought to myself, "I’ll just go shopping at the Roatan stop." How wrong I was. I knew as soon as we docked that we were somewhere special. From the city where we docked, to the lush surroundings, I knew that I had to see and learn more about this little island.
Roatan is one of three islands that make up the Bay Islands region of Honduras. It is a long (33 miles), narrow (four miles) island, and you can see from one side to another from its highest point. The western end of the island is the most populated. The cruise port is located at the western end, in the town of Coxen Hole.
